I claim the proud heritage of being a third generation lawyer in this area.
My Grandfather, Harold S. Irwin began the practice of law in Carlisle in 1943, after teaching at Dickinson School of Law for eighteen years. Throughout the course of his law practice, he served in a variety of professional and civic organizations, including being the president of the Christian Legal Society, the Cumberland County Bar Association and the American Lung Association of South Central Pennsylvania. His work in the community, his integrity and professionalism formed the foundation of our family’s law practice. My father, Harold S. Irwin, Jr. was born in Carlisle and was a graduate of Carlisle High School, Dickinson College and Dickinson School of Law. He began practice with my Grandfather in 1954. “Duke” was a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, Cumberland County Bar Association and the Christian Legal Society. He served as Assistant District Attorney and District Attorney for Cumberland County, president of the Cumberland County Bar Association and chief counsel to the minority leader in the Pennsylvania Senate. Active in various civic and charitable organizations, he served as president of the American Lung Association of South Central Pennsylvania and he was an officer of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard, serving in that capacity for over thirty years.
